Aadhar Based Verification

Tenant verification – Why is it important?

Rental property is in great demand. This means tenants will often explore several renting options to secure a home to live. It is better to be safe than sorry in case of landlord-tenant relationships. While an abrupt and quick rental agreement could translate into various problems in future, the primary goal of a landlord lies in protecting the property that he has invested in.

Therefore, before letting it out to tenants, landlords want to ensure the following factors:

1. Timely rent payment.

2. Rental clauses are not violated during the agreement period.

3. Property is well maintained and taken care of.

Keeping these factors in mind, many property owners are performing a Tenant Verification check in order to verify the background of the tenant and line up responsible tenants for rental properties. It also eliminates the chances of renting it out to people with a criminal background. In many instances, property owners have rented out to tenants who appeared decent without collecting necessary documents. Within no time, their worst fears came true when the tenants refused to vacate the property.

Property owners are careful these days and realize the importance of verifying tenants before signing an agreement with them. While filling a police verification form is important, there are other documents such as original address proof, valid identity proof, previous landlord’s contact sharing and in some cases credit references too, have gained significant importance.

There are various credit bureaus and agencies that perform identity checks in India today. Recently, mobile applications have also been developed to tap this market. TrustID is India’s first mobile app that helps you check anyone’s identity in less than 1 minute. It aims to effectively utilize the power of Aadhaar for identity verification and background check of an individual. The easy and simple-to-use mobile application requires basic details such as Aadhaar ID, Name, Gender and phone number.

Once these details are entered, TrustID sends these details (encrypted) to Aadhaar database and matches them instantly to provide a matched / not matched outcome. Since our lives largely revolve around service providers such as maids, cooks, drivers, gardeners, security guards etc., the identity verification app certainly helps to verify them and ease in effective decision making.

It goes a step further and offers a host of advanced verification solutions that enable clients to undertake Credit Bureau checks and complete background checks providing assurance and peace of mind. This is most relevant for landlords and lenders to verify the creditworthiness of tenants and borrowers.

These solutions act as preventive measures to reduce the risk of bad rental deals that could adversely affect the landlord. Thus, it is always better to build trust levels on tenants after performing a background check.
